Chestnut growers roasting chestnuts Friday evening, from 5 to 9 pm, November 16, 2007, we roast chestnuts at the "Silver Bells in the City" celebration in downtown Lansing. This event kicks off the Christmas Holiday Season with an electric light parade, hayrides, musical events, fireworks and the lighting of the official State Christmas Tree at the State Capitol. 100,000 people attended this festival in 2006 and many enjoy our roasted chestnuts. Go to www.lansingarts.org/silverbells.htm for information.

The city of East Lansing hosts "Winter Bowl" at noon on December 2, 2007 (in past years this was called "Winterfest"). This event has Santa, real reindeer, and a chili cook-off. We participate in this event and always sell hundreds of bags of roasted chestnuts as the Holiday crowds enjoy the sights, sounds and flavors of Christmas.

Additionally, if you visit the Henry Ford / Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI during the month of December, you can sample our delicious roasted chestnuts from street vendors in the village dressed in period costume of the mid-nineteenth century. Back in that time, roasted chestnuts were commonly available in American cities from vendors in the streets, just as they are today in Europe and Asia.
